Earlier today I lost about 8 hours of painstaking (and good!) work in a Photoshop crash. Long story short, I had repeatedly saved the smart object I was working on, but the parent file hadn’t been saved before the crash. For all you photoshop users out there it’s worth remembering that, if that happens to you, any and all the saving you did on the smart object is overwritten on restart and relaunch of the parent file.
Anyway, it was heartbreaking. I literally cried at my desk. Later on this evening Maxx was asking me why was “Dad sad?”. I told her it was because I lost something very important. She started looking around in earnest, which just about broke my heart, so I told her that I lost a really important picture on my computer.
Then she sort of lit up a bit and said, “Daddy, sit, chair. Maxx picture camera.” At first I didn’t know what she meant, but it became clear that she wanted to take a picture of me with her camera (she has an inherited an old point-and-shoot which she has filled with hundreds of blurry photos of her feet and the dog) to replace the picture I lost.

I think this picture more than replaces the one I lost.
